Imran Khan, Pakistan's former Prime Minister, has accused retired Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa of pressuring him to develop friendly ties with India, which contributed to their relationship deteriorating.
This comes as relations between India and Pakistan have been strained due to the Kashmir issue and cross-border terrorism. Imran Khan maintains that Pakistan should only hold peace talks with India if New Delhi restores the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. He also accused Gen. Bajwa of committing atrocities against him, his party members, and journalists, adding that he wanted him killed. Imran Khan's party had dissolved assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces in January, and he has asked the ruling alliance to explain the reasons for postponing polls until October 2023. If elections are not held within 90 days in two provinces, Pakistan will be without a constitution, he warned. Imran Khan urged the nation to stand by the Constitution and rule of law, stating that Pakistan is facing a critical moment in its history.
