Vijay Diwas 2025: PM Modi, Rajnath Singh & Service Chiefs Honour 1971 War Heroes
The nation paid solemn tribute to the heroes of the 1971 Indo-Pak war on Vijay Diwas 2025, marking India’s historic victory that led to the creation of Bangladesh.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, accompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, laid wreaths at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. The ceremony honoured the valour and supreme sacrifice of the soldiers who played a decisive role in India’s historic military victory.

Prime Minister Modi paid homage to the fallen soldiers, remembering their unparalleled bravery and reaffirming the nation’s gratitude to those who safeguarded India’s sovereignty. He wrote on a post on X, "On Vijay Diwas, we remember the brave soldiers whose courage and sacrifice ensured India had a historic victory in 1971.
