In a ceremonial event held at the Kochi naval base on December 31, Vice Admiral V Srinivas officially took charge as the 30th Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOCINC), succeeding Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi. The latter retired following a distinguished career spanning four decades in the Indian Navy.
As per a Defence spokesperson, Vice Admiral Srinivas, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and commissioned in 1987, specializes in nti-submarine warfare. Throughout his 36-year tenure, he has commanded notable vessels like INS Shankul and the destroyer INS Ranvir. It's noteworthy that he holds the distinction of being one of only two Indian Navy officers to have led both a frontline warship and a nuclear submarine (INS Chakra).
