New Guard Assumes Duty at Top Levels of the Indian Navy

In a shift at the highest levels of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh assumed the role of the new chief of the Western Naval Command (WNC) on January 3. Concurrently, Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi is set to become the new vice chief of the force in the same location on Thursday.

Vice Admiral Singh, a member of the Navy's executive branch since 1986, has previously held the position of flag officer commanding the Western Fleet.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Tripathi, commissioned in July 1985, has previously served as the director general of naval operations and as the flag officer commanding the country's Eastern Fleet.
