Havildar Preeti Rajak, a renowned trap shooter, has achieved the rank of Subedar, becoming the first woman in the Indian Army to hold this position. Joining the Corps of Military Police in December 2022 due to her outstanding performance in trap shooting, Rajak, the first meritorious sportswoman in shooting to become a havildar, secured a silver medal in the trap women's team event at the 19th Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China. Currently ranked 6th in India for trap women, she is undergoing training at the elite Army Marksmanship Unit in Mhow for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
The Indian Army said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Her inspiring journey in the field of sports is an example of dedication and hard work, motivating many aspiring young women in the Nation to join the Armed Forces for excellence in Sports.”
