Several senior military officers will gather in Leh on the third anniversary of the Galwan clash to discuss strategies and preparedness in the sector bordering China, according to Army officials. The meeting, which will include Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, 14 Corps Commander Lieutenant General Rashim Bali, and other top officers, aims to assess the force's readiness in the area bordering China.
‘Senior military officers of the Northern Command, including Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, 14 Corps Commander Lieutenant General Rashim Bali, along with other top officers, will hold operational discussions in Leh tomorrow. The meeting will discuss the preparedness of the force in the sector bordering China’, stated the Army officials. The Galwan Valley clash, which occurred in 2020, took place on 15 June, marking the third anniversary of the incident.
In September 2022, Indian and Chinese troops completed the disengagement process in the Gogra Heights-Hot Springs area near Patrolling Point-15 in the eastern Ladakh sector, according to government sources. Since May 2020, when Chinese troops attempted to change the status quo in eastern Ladakh, both sides have maintained forward positions near Patrolling Point 15, which became a friction point following the Galwan clash.
Earlier reports from the Russian-based media agency Sputnik stated that Delhi and Beijing reached an agreement in February 2021 to disengage from the 135-km Pangong Lake, establishing buffer zones until all outstanding border issues are resolved. Over 50,000 Indian soldiers have been stationed at forward posts along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) since 2020, equipped with advanced weapons to prevent any unilateral attempts to alter the status quo on the LAC.
