On 28 March, the first batch of soldiers recruited under the Agnipath scheme will complete their training with a Passing Out Parade (POP) at INS Chilka. In a first-of-its-kind ceremony, the POP for Agniveers will be held after sunset instead of the traditional morning hours.
The training programme, which spanned 16 weeks, saw a total of 2,600 Agniveers, including 273 women soldiers, receive training in the Indian Navy in areas such as service, academic, and outdoor. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Indian Navy's official YouTube channel and Instagram page, as well as on the Doordarshan Network. The parade will be attended by notable guests such as PT Usha and former captain of the Indian women's cricket team Mithali Raj. Senior naval officers, including the reviewing officer of POP Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, will also be in attendance.
Awards will be presented under various categories to deserving Agniveers by the chief guest Naval Staff Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar. Additionally, the Indian Navy will award the General Bipin Rawat Rolling Trophy to the Woman Agniveer Trainee Standing First in Overall Order of Merit, which will be presented by the daughters of India's first Chief of Defence Staff.
