Pak Nationals Attempt to Cross the LoC
Recently, there have been reports of residents from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) attempting to cross the Line of Control into Indian territory. However, Indian troops have been vigilant and have sent them back to their side. Sources have indicated that these incidents have been occuring in Poonch where PoK residents tried to cross a river bed that serves as the boundary, but were prevented to do so by Indian troops.
The Indian Army has expressed their concerns to the Pakistan Army at both local and higher levels. The Army is closely monitoring the area and is alert to any such incidents. Mosques in villages across the LoC have also been requested to urge PoK citizens to refrain from crossing over to the Indian side for activities like lifting sand and grazing cattle.
This area has been a primary site for infiltration attempts, and terrorists supported by the Pakistan Army have infiltrated from the villages next to the LoC on several occasions. Indian troops have notified their counterparts that it would be challenging to differentiate between civilians and infiltrators if villagers come too close to the Indian side, which could create problems.
