In a major breakthrough, security forces gunned down three terrorists in Operation Mahadev near Srinagar, including Suleman Shah, the mastermind of the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people.
This joint operation of the Indian Army, CRPF and J&K Police took action in the Dachigam area of Srinagar near Mount Mahadev. The trio—Suleman, Abu Hamza (alias Afghan), and Yasir—were identified through local informants, including the 2 people detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and evidence, including Pakistani ID cards and chocolates. Around 17 grenades, one M4 carbine and two AK-47 rifles were recovered from their hideout. Forensic tests matched their weapons to those used in the massacre.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed their identities in Parliament and declared it a key success under India's broader counter-terror strategy, Operation Sindoor.
The success of this joint operation of the Indian Army, CRPF and J&K Police was also announced on the official X handle of The Chinar Corps
