The Indian Army, under the "Year of Tech Absorption" initiative, integrates Akashteer Control Centers developed by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to bolster air defence capabilities. Marking a milestone in technological advancement and defence augmentation, the Indian Army has initiated the integration of ‘Akashteer Command and Control Systems’ into its Corps of Army Air Defence.
The introduction of Akashteer commenced with a ceremonial launch, featuring the departure of the inaugural batch of Control Centers from BEL Ghaziabad on April 4, 2024.
Crafted under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), this endeavour is poised to significantly elevate the operational effectiveness and seamless integration of the Indian Army's air defence apparatus, as affirmed by defence authorities. The Akashteer Project symbolizes a pioneering venture aimed at streamlining Air Defence Control and Reporting procedures through a transformative digital framework.
Underlining the pivotal role of technological progress, the Indian Army has dubbed 2024 as the "Year of Tech Absorption," embarking on multiple initiatives to integrate specialized technologies and systems into its inventory.
