The Indian Army responded to the sighting of Pakistani quadcopters along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch on Friday by opening fire at two different locations. The drones were observed hovering briefly over the Indian side in Balnoi-Mendhar and Gulpur sectors before returning to Pakistan. Immediate search operations were launched to ensure that no weapons or narcotics were dropped by the objects. The first incident occurred around 6.30 am in the Balnoi area of Mendhar, with troops opening fire but the drones managed to retreat. Similarly, in the Gulpur sector, quadcopters were fired upon and retreated around the same time. This comes after a previous engagement with an enemy drone on February 12 in the Mankote area of the Mendhar sector. Pakistan has been using drones for transporting narcotics and weapons into Jammu and Kashmir, leading to a cash reward announcement by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for information about cross-border drone activities.
