The Army has announced plans to digitize nearly 11 lakh pages and 700 hours of audio-video content containing declassified records from significant events such as the 1948 Jammu and Kashmir conflict, 1961 Goa Liberation (Operation Vijay), and the India-Pakistan Wars of 1965 and 1971. These extensive records, including battle memoirs, are dispersed among more than 1,300 units, Army formations, regimental centres, and military museums.
Upon completion of the curation and digitization process, the reports and audio-visual films will be accessible through a "digital archive kiosk" established at the United Services Institute of India in New Delhi. However, it's important to note that records related to events like the Kargil conflict and the capture of Siachen Glacier in 1984 won't be available, as they have not been declassified by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
