On Tuesday, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh commended the Indian Army for organising the Purvottar Bharat Parikrama North East Car Rally, which he believes will contribute to creating a united India and Northeast region.
The rally was flagged off by Biren Singh from the western gate of the historic Kangla Fort in Imphal city, and its purpose is to promote coordination, love, understanding, and unity among the Northeast states. The Army's Eastern Command is organising the rally as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of India's independence. The Chief Minister highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to achieve a united India under the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat mission, and he expressed satisfaction that students from different parts of the country are visiting Manipur, while students from the state are also visiting other parts of the country to connect the youths and bring them closer to one another. As part of the ceremony, the Chief Minister presented school bags made from recycled Army uniforms and books to students at Iroishemba Upper Primary School in Imphal West district. The rally will pass through all eight northeast states and pay homage to the region's freedom fighters. One SUV in the motorcade represents each state, while two SUVs represent the Army. The rally commenced on 22 March, and its objective is to celebrate the spirit of Independent India, promote national integration, and build an inclusive mindset in local youth, among other goals.
