India had received the first three Apaches in July this year, and with the arrival of the remaining three, the Army now has its full complement to enhance its aerial strike and reconnaissance capabilities.
Equipped with a 30-mm chain gun, Hellfire air-to-ground missiles, Hydra rockets, and air-to-air Stinger missiles, the Apache provides lethal firepower against armoured vehicles, enemy positions, and low-flying aerial threats. Its advanced Longbow fire-control radar allows it to detect, track, and engage multiple targets simultaneously, even from behind cover.
The induction of the AH-64E fleet is part of the Army’s ongoing efforts to modernise its rotary-wing combat assets, complementing other platforms such as the indigenous Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and the Rudra weaponised Advanced Light Helicopter.
