Major Rajprasad RS of the Corps of Engineers patented the Portable Multi Target Detonation Device (WEDC), offering wired/wireless firing and a 2.5 km range, a milestone in Indian Army detonation technology.
Major Rajprasad RS of the Corps of Engineers has pioneered a groundbreaking innovation within the Indian Army with the development and patenting of the Portable Multi Target Detonation Device (WEDC). This microprocessor-based electronic system represents a significant advancement in detonation technology. The WEDC operates seamlessly through both wired and wireless modes of firing, offering versatility and efficiency in its deployment. While the wired connection facilitates integration with command and control systems, the wireless mode allows for remote detonation without the need for physical connections.
One of the most notable features of the WEDC is its impressive range, boasting a capability to reach targets up to 2.5 km away. This substantial increase in range far surpasses the limitations of previous systems, such as the Exploder Dynamo Capacitor, which had a range of only 400 m. This extended range not only enhances the safety and reliability of detonation operations but also enables the effective engagement of multiple targets from a distance, thereby significantly expanding the operational capabilities of the Indian Army in various scenarios.
