According to the Army, a shooting incident occurred at the Bathinda military station in Punjab on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of four individuals.
The military station, which is located approximately six hours north of New Delhi and primarily houses families of soldiers, is a residential army base. Quick reaction teams were immediately deployed, and the area has been cordoned off and sealed. Punjab's Additional Director General of Police, S.P.S. Parmar, stated that the incident was not a terrorist attack or an attack from outside but rather a fratricidal incident. ANI reported that there is no indication of terrorism in the firing incident, and sources suggest that the disappearance of an Insas rifle with 28 cartridges two days prior may have contributed to the incident, with some army personnel potentially involved. The Army has issued a statement indicating that the incident occurred at 4:35 am, and quick reaction teams were activated, and the area has been cordoned off and sealed.
