Joint Training over Mediterranean Sea by Indian and Greek Air Force

The Greek Air Force and their Indian counterparts conducted joint training exercises at the Andravida Air Base on 27 March.

Rank X reported that the exercises involved two PA F-4E fighter aircrafts and Mirage 2000 fighter jets. These exercises were aimed at strengthening cooperation between Greece and friendly countries, such as India. The training included defence interception, low-sea flight, and virtual attacks on surface targets, which contributed to the operational readiness and combat capability of both armed forces.

Furthermore, the Indian Air Force will participate in the Multinational Exercise Iniochos 2023 with Su-30 Aircraft from April 24th to May 5th, 2023. This marks the first time that the Indian Air Force will participate in the exercise, signifying the deepening military cooperation between the two countries. The annual Iniochos Exercise has increased its operational value over the years, attracting the interest of friends, partners, and allies who increase their participation in it, making it a valuable platform for operational training experiences.

During the exercise, participating aircraft will undergo a full range of missions in complex operational and congested environments, including countermeasures against ground-based air defense systems, joint attacks on enemy ground positions, and effective combat search and rescue. The exercise builds joint operational capabilities and creates a strong and sustainable force.

The agreement for joint cooperation in military production and training between India and Greece in 2020 was a response to the newly inflamed Turkey-Pakistan axis. Greece has had a proxy conflict with Turkey for decades, and Turkey's opening of several fronts around itself in 2020, including Libya, Syria, and Nagorno-Karabakh, supported by Pakistan, further increased tensions. The involvement of the Indian Air Force in joint military training with Greece is a testament to the exchange of experience, know-how, and technology between the two countries.
