An Indian Air Force Pilatus PC-7 Mk II trainer aircraft crashed near Tambaram in Chennai’s Chengalpattu district on Friday during a routine training mission. Visuals of the crash site have been widely circulated on social media, showing scattered debris and locals gathered around the wreckage.
Initial reports confirm that the pilot managed to eject safely moments before the aircraft went down. A video shared by PTI on X captures the aftermath of the incident.

The Indian Air Force stated on X, saying: “An Indian Air Force PC-7 Mk II trainer aircraft met with an accident during a routine training mission and crashed at about 1425 Hr near Tambaram, Chennai, today. The pilot ejected safely, and no damage to civil property has been reported. A Court of Inquiry has been constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident.”

Further details are awaited. Earlier in July, an IAF Jaguar fighter aircraft crashed during a training sortie near Churu, Rajasthan, resulting in the loss of both pilots on board.
