An Indian Air Force Tejas aircraft crashed during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show on Friday, resulting in the tragic loss of the pilot. The incident occurred mid-routine before a large audience, bringing the programme to an abrupt stop.
In its official statement, the Indian Air Force confirmed the accident and said: “An IAF Tejas aircraft met with an accident during an aerial display at Dubai Air Show, today. The pilot sustained fatal injuries in the accident. IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief.” The force added that a court of inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause.

The HAL Tejas is a homegrown, multi-role light combat aircraft developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in collaboration with the Aeronautical Development Agency. Designed for agility and versatility, it incorporates advanced avionics, fly-by-wire controls, and a composite airframe that enhances performance while keeping the aircraft lightweight.
Capable of executing air-to-air, air-to-ground, and reconnaissance missions, the Tejas marks a significant milestone in India’s pursuit of indigenous defence technology.
