The Indian Air Force will conduct Vayu Shakti 2026, a major firepower demonstration, on 27 February 2026 at the Pokhran Air-to-Ground Range in Rajasthan. Ahead of the event, the IAF has released its first-ever video of the Russian-origin S-400 air defence missile system in action, offering a preview of one of India’s most advanced strategic assets. The footage shows radar tracking, followed by the activation and launch sequences of the air defence system.

The S-400, which significantly strengthens India’s long-range air defence capability, has enabled the country to achieve its longest recorded air interception range. The system is now fully mission-ready and will play a key role in the upcoming demonstration, highlighting the IAF’s operational preparedness and technological edge.
This demonstration of the missile system provides a rare opportunity to witness large-scale aerial and ground combat capabilities on display.
Last year, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, PVSM, AVSM, highlighted the decisive role played by the S-400 air defence system during Operation Sindoor. Speaking on August 9, he revealed the extent of Pakistan’s aerial losses in the operation and how IAF’s S-400 had shot down at least five Pakistani fighter jets along with one large aircraft. The disclosure underscored the scale and effectiveness of the missile system during the conflict.
