The Indian Air Force (IAF) has confirmed the loss of two of its officers—Squadron Leader Anuj and Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar, following a crash involving a Sukhoi Su-30 fighter aircraft.
According to an official statement, both officers sustained fatal injuries in the accident. The IAF expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen air warriors.
“All personnel of the IAF express sincere condolences and stand firmly with the bereaved families in this time of grief,” the statement said.

Earlier on Thursday, the IAF had informed via a post on X that a Su-30MKI aircraft had gone missing after taking off from Jorhat, Assam, with the last contact established at 7:42 pm. A search and rescue operation was immediately launched.

It was later confirmed that the aircraft, which was on a training mission, had crashed in the Karbi Anglong area of Assam, approximately 60 km from Jorhat.
The loss has cast a shadow over the service, as the IAF remembers two officers who served the nation with dedication and courage.
